TRASH
REMOVAL

Every property owner
in the borough will receive a yearly trash bill in the amount of
$110.00 per unit. Services include trash pick up, recycling, branch
pick-up, cardboard drop off, and Christmas tree pick up in January.
Per Pennsburg Borough Ordinance, every property owner in the Borough
is responsible for this yearly fee of $110.00 per unit. You should
expect your bill in January, due and payable by
April 1st.
Trash will only be picked-up in Pennsburg Borough trash
bags. |
Pennsburg
Borough Bags may be purchased at the following locations at a
cost of $1.00 each:

Pennsburg Square Shopping Center
Professional Pharmacy 931 Main Street
C.R. Dampman
560 Seminary Street
>Trash pick -up is Wednesday. Place your trash outside on Tuesday
evening.
>If pick-up falls on a holiday, trash will be collected the
following day.
>Trash must be placed in Pennsburg Borough
trash bags. Bags cannot be tied to trash cans.
>It is permissible to place borough bags inside trash cans.
>A maximum of four bags per week is permitted with a 40
pound weight limit per bag.
>Failure to comply with these regulations may result in your trash
not being picked up.
REMINDER: OPEN BURNING IS
NOT PERMITTED IN THE BOROUGH
LARGE BULK ITEMS
Large items (mattresses, sofas, chairs, etc.) can be disposed
of by purchasing a Bulk Sticker. Bulk stickers may be purchased at the same location
trash bags are sold at a cost of $5.00 each. You are permitted to put one bulk item
curbside each week on trash day.
Large appliances, tires, washers, auto batteries or items with Freon will
not be picked up with a bulk sticker. Call J.P. Mascaro & Sons to
inquire about removal of these items at 1-800-334-3403.

SCHEDULE
Recyclables will be picked up every other Tuesday. Pick-up will alternate
from the North to the South side of Route 663 every Tuesday. If
recycling falls on a holiday, pick-up will be the day before.
Please have your recycling out by 7:00 A.M.
GUIDELINES
• Containers cannot be put out prior to Monday evening. If
the holiday falls on a Tuesday, pick-up will be
the day before (Monday).
• Separate items in sturdy containers of your choice and
place where you normally put your trash. If
possible, place holes in bottom of containers to allow for drainage.
• Make sure items are rinsed clean. Please leave lids on laundry
product containers but remove all other
lids.
RECYCLABLE
ITEMS- curbside pick-up
Please sort all items in your own containers:
• Plastic jugs & containers marked #1 through #7 provided they are
no bigger than a large laundry
detergent bottle
• Aluminum cans
• Tin cans
• Clear, brown & colored glass (jars or bottles only; No pyrex,
plate glass, light bulbs, mirrors, etc.)
For your convenience, recyclables can also be dropped off
at the Pennsburg Recycling Center, behind the Civic Building at 76
W. 6th Street, from 7:00 AM until 3:30 PM Monday through Friday.
CARDBOARD & PAPER
Cardboard Drop-Off
will take place the second Saturday of each month from 8:00 A.M. -
12:00 P.M. at the Pennsburg Borough Recycling Center located behind the
Pennsburg Borough Civic Building, 76 W. 6th Street. This service is
open to everyone.
Bring cardboard
in a cardboard container that does not have to be returned.
Borough workers do not have adequate manpower or time to empty
containers and return to each resident. Thank you for your
cooperation in this matter.
Newspaper, office paper & magazines can be dropped off 24
hours a day at the Pennsburg Fire Company, 5th & Penn Streets,
Pennsburg. *Wrapping paper is
recyclable.*
>NEW:
You can now drop off your CFL Bulbs (Compact Fluorescent
Light Bulbs) at the Recycling Center for
recycling between 7:00 A.M. and 3:30 P.M.

CHIPPING (TREE
BRANCH PICK UP)
Pick-up will take place weekly from the first week in April
through the last week in October. Chipping will take place weather permitting. Trees
removed from your property cannot be put out for chipping, please
contact a tree removal service.
• Place branches, hard covered bark only, clear of root balls & dirt
where you normally place your
trash
• Branches can be no larger that 2" in diameter
• Smaller pieces should be placed in a container
• Stack branches neatly with butts of branches facing one direction
• There is a 10 minute time limit for each stop
• The following will not be picked up: vines, root balls, flowers,
weeds, leaves, bush trimmings,
branches with fruit, dried flower stems, grass clippings
• This service is not intended for downed trees or lumber.
• Christmas
trees will
be picked up every Monday in January.

Drop off
is usually scheduled for November and December.

SNOW
REMOVAL
Borough ordinance requires property owners / occupants to remove snow and ice from
sidewalks within 24 hours after snow or freezing rain has ceased to fall.
Please wait until the borough snow plows have finished plowing before you begin snow
removal. Do not deposit removed snow onto roadways.
Remember to keep fire hydrants on your property clear and open.
GRASS/WEEDS
Borough Ordinance requires property
owners to maintain grass and weeds on their property at a height not
to exceed 8 inches.
