2012 Budget
President Lear
proposed a small tax increase of .4 mills to offset the
costs associated with care and maintenance of the Civic
Building and necessary road and storm drain repairs. Also,
he suggested saving money each year for the next eight years
to be able to replace the roof when it becomes necessary.
President Lear proposed the tax increase as follows:
.15
mills to pay for the yearly loan payment = $22,500.00
.05
mills for roof replacement = $7,500.00
.2
mills for road improvements = $30,000.00
Councilors
Wieder, Kirkwood, Landis and Clinton all favored the tax
increase, with each one expressing how unhappy they are to
raise taxes. Councilors Mensch and Lord were opposed to
raising taxes.
President Lear
added that the safety issue of having no separation from the
police station for the borough staff has been an on-going
concern.
Heat in the
bathrooms and hallway – Rick Krupp was directed to contact
an electrician to provide a cost associated with installing
space heaters in the downstairs bathrooms and hallway. The
upstairs bathrooms will be winterized by a plumber and

Borough Council Members agreed to a tax increase of .4
mills.
